The Christmas Lights Are On!Saturday 5 December 2026
On Saturday 5 December, the lights on our beautiful Christmas tree will be switched on, bringing a little extra sparkle to the Tea Cottage.
From then on, our cottage will be glowing with festive lights and decorations, creating a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere throughout the Christmas season.
Whether you’re stopping by after a winter walk or joining us for a festive afternoon tea, come and enjoy the magic of Christmas at the Tea Cottage.
Our Famous Christmas Hot Chocolate BarReturning 1 December – Over 30 Delicious Varieties!
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas at the Tea Cottage without our famous Hot Chocolate Bar!
From 1 December, we’re bringing back this much-loved festive favourite, with over 30 different varieties of deliciously indulgent hot chocolate to discover.
Whether you love something rich and chocolatey, wonderfully creamy or bursting with festive flavours, there’s something to tempt everyone.
And this year, we’re making things even more special!
We’re introducing warming mulled wine and spiced cider, perfect for taking the chill off after a winter walk through beautiful Bolton Abbey.
For our adult guests, why not add a little tipple to your favourite hot chocolate for an extra-luxurious festive treat?
And if you fancy something a little different, we’re also introducing traditional Irish coffees, the perfect winter warmer.
Come in from the cold, settle down somewhere cosy and enjoy a little Christmas indulgence.

Our Magical Winter Wonderland RoomUpstairs, beneath the beautiful exposed beams of our historic cottage, our Winter Wonderland Room becomes the setting for our festive afternoon teas.
With its twinkling lights, Christmas decorations and wonderfully cosy atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to escape the winter chill and make some lovely Christmas memories.
Whether you’re celebrating with family, gathering with friends or treating someone special, our Winter Wonderland Room provides a truly magical setting.
Please note: Dogs are not permitted in our upstairs Winter Wonderland Room. However, we are delighted to welcome well-behaved dogs in other areas of the Tea Cottage and will happily help arrange suitable seating for guests visiting with their four-legged companions.

Celebrate the season with a generous selection of freshly prepared festive sandwiches, savouries, homemade scones and delicious Christmas sweet treats.
Served in our magical Winter Wonderland Room, our Christmas Afternoon Tea is a wonderful way to spend a leisurely afternoon with the people you love.
Whether it’s a Christmas get-together with friends, a family celebration or simply an excuse to indulge, we’ll make sure it’s an occasion to remember.
Reservations are essential, with at least 48 hours’ notice required.

Throughout December, our weekend Christmas Afternoon Teas are accompanied by beautiful live harp music, creating a wonderfully festive atmosphere in our Winter Wonderland Room.
Imagine settling down to a delicious homemade afternoon tea, surrounded by Christmas decorations and twinkling lights, while the gentle sounds of the harp fill the room.
It’s the perfect way to celebrate with family and friends, treat someone special or simply enjoy a little peace and Christmas magic away from the busy world outside.

Our Christmas Eve Celebration Tea is one of the most special occasions of the year.
Join us in our magical Winter Wonderland Room for a magnificent festive afternoon tea, accompanied by live harp music and traditional Christmas carol singing.
With delicious homemade treats, beautiful music, twinkling lights and the excitement of Christmas just around the corner, it’s a wonderful way to begin your celebrations.
Bring your family, bring your friends and enjoy a little Christmas Eve magic with us.
Places are limited, and advance reservations are essential.
A Festive Visit to Bolton AbbeyYou don’t need to book an afternoon tea to enjoy a little Christmas cheer at the Tea Cottage.
After a winter walk through the beautiful Bolton Abbey estate, why not pop in for one of our famous hot chocolates, a warming glass of mulled wine, a delicious homemade lunch or one of our award-winning scones?
With festive decorations, a cosy atmosphere and beautiful views across Bolton Abbey, the Tea Cottage is a lovely place to escape the winter chill.
And if you’re out walking with your dog, don’t worry! Well-behaved dogs are very welcome in our designated dog-friendly areas, although our upstairs Winter Wonderland Room is reserved for guests without dogs.
Book Early – Last Year We Were Fully Booked!Our Christmas afternoon teas were fully booked last year, so we strongly recommend reserving your table early!
With limited sittings in our magical Winter Wonderland Room, particularly on weekends and Christmas Eve, booking ahead is the best way to secure your preferred date and time.
